The Power of Fervency

The Power of Fervency

And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;  for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’ -I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.” – Luke 11:5-8

Even though we have direct access to God, and we know that God wants to give us all that we need according to His will, we sometimes find that what we ask for doesn’t come immediately we ask for it. What is your response in the face of delay? Are you desperate for God to change a situation in your life? Do you seek Him about it casually or do you keep pressing until you start to see a difference?

One major characteristic of effective prayer is persistence. To be persistent is to continue in an opinion or course of action, in spite of difficulty, delay or opposition. But too many Christians today display a ‘what will be, will be’ attitude, thinking that it is alright to just go along with whatever happens in life. Don’t be like a helpless straw floating in the wind. Do not throw in the towel. You have the power in Christ to overcome every opposition and every seeming delay!

Persistence through prayer produces desired results. You can never be helpless and powerless when you are in constant communication with God. Today, make requests of God believing that you have received it. Remain persistent till you see the manifestation of that request in your life.
