Set Your Hope in God

“We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.

Psalm 33:20-22 (NLT)

God has showered you with an abundance of blessings! And on most days, they’re easy to remember and keep alive in your heart. In the course of life however, you can sometimes lose sight of the promises God has made to you. And when you lose sight of these promises, it becomes infinitely harder to see them fulfilled in your life, because God’s commandment explicitly states that we must not let his words depart from our eyes.

So how do we deal with this?

For you to see God’s promises come to pass in your own experience, you’ll need to develop unwavering hope in what He has said about you. This takes diligent work. It takes faith to trust in God’s character and his unfailing nature. It also takes discipline to trust and obey God’s instructions even when things aren’t falling in place. You build faith and trust in God by saturating yourself with God’s word. God’s word contains detailed accounts of who He is, how He operates, and more importantly, what He thinks of you. When you know who God is intimately, it becomes easy to hope and trust in Him.

Also, don’t worry if things take a while to come together. Don’t think that age is a barrier for God to fulfill His promises to you. God takes pleasure in working in the background when no one can see anything! That’s His thing! Many people have given up on their dreams and visions because they thought they were too old. Abraham was over 80 years old when God gave him the promise that he would be a father to nations. He was even much older when God fulfilled that promise. God didn’t mind how old He was! In contrast, King Uzziah was 16 years old when God used him to bring restoration and economic advancement to Israel. God wasn’t fazed by how young he was either!

You are not too young or too old for God to still bring His dreams and vision for you to pass. Keep reading His word. Keep talking to Him and remember to set your hope on Him. God will not fail. It is not in His nature to fail, so you can always depend on Him!

I will set my hope and my eyes on God and I will see everything He has said about me come to pass in Jesus’ name.
